Stouts & Porters
Often confused Stout and Porter make the lion's share of dark beer styles. Stout is a dark beer that is the offspring of a porter as it is a stronger and more roasted version of the original beer. The main flavour notes that you will get from Stout are chocolate, coffee and toffee. Porter on the other hand has been around since the 18th century in London. It is defined as "a dark style of beer developed from well-hopped beers made from brown malts". Porters are a great option for people who want to try beers at the darker end of the spectrum offering different flavours outside of the stout world.
