Alastair Hook founded Meantime Brewing Company in 1999, aiming to put more unique twists on beer styles that have been around for centuries. Based in Greenwich, London, they believe that time is key and patience pays off, taking extra time in the brewing process to ensure every pint is perfect. They mature the beer for a minimum of 6 weeks, rather than a few days, giving it a greater, more refined taste. It seems to be working, because in 2008 Alastair was named Brewer of the Year by the British Guild of Beer Writers. Meantime are also famous for their distinctive champagne-style bottles, and are the only brewery to use this bottling technique.
