Brewed with mounds of originality, this porter favours smokiness as much as it does the milky sweet. With fiery scents of charred oak and deep espresso coming through in equal measures, it fills the palate with flavours that most wouldn't associate with the dark style. On top of chocolate, subtle hints of mint and coconut can be noted (depending on the imbiber) making this rare porter a dream to drink. - Learn more about Allendale

About the makers

Allendale Brewing real ales since 2006

To call Allendale a 'labour of love' makes sense in more than one way. Founded by Tom Hick and his father Jim back in 2004, the pair spent the best part of two years trying to find a place that would suit their beery vision. Winding up close to home in Northumberland, things finally came together on St. Valentine's Day in 2006 when they first released Curlew's Return - a beer they still make to this day! Now, that duo has expanded into a group of nine with Lucy, Tom's wife joining the team as a multi-talented owner, company director and designer! View the Allendale page
