A bustling seaside resort has grown up around the distillery in the two centuries since it was first built in the fishing town of Oban. The Oban 14 year old is a full-blooded fruity malt with a whiff of heather and more than a hint of smoke. The medicinal notes are quite evident with a rich scent of seaweed and tarry ropes. There are notes of cut hay and wood smoke rising with a gentle estery sweetness. The palate is thick, full and sweet with smoke wafts and notes of seaweed. It's like licking a boat house but in a good way.
