The original Stronachie Distillery was in production until 1928 before being mothballed and lost to history. Having acquired an original 1904 bottle of Stronachie, A. D. Rattray sampled it and re-created the flavour profile using spirit from the similarly remote and high altitude Benrinnes Distillery. Young and fresh on the nose being sweet and malty. Tastes of honey, fruit syrup and a little earthy too. This whisky feels like a faithful tribute to the original.
